What to Expect During the Procedure

The eyelid surgery usually lasts around two hours. The exact duration depends on the number of eyelids being treated and the alterations needed for the procedure. Anesthesia will be administered at the start of the procedure. An incision will be made on the target area based on the chosen type of eyelid surgery in the treatment plan.

There are two types of eyelid surgery: upper blepharoplasty and lower blepharoplasty. Depending on your aesthetic goals, you may opt to choose one or both.

Eye Lift Recovery

The healing process after eyelid lift surgery involves taking time off from work to rest and recover. Patients must be driven home by a friend or family member, since they will not be able to drive immediately following the surgery.

A minor degree of bruising and swelling will be present around the eyes, but this will fade in time. Cold compresses can be used to aid this process, and keeping one’s head elevated is key. Dryness may occur during healing and can be addressed as directed by Dr. Conderman.

After 10 days, the patient can resume normal activities. However, strenuous activities are only recommended after three weeks. Eyeglasses can be worn cautiously, but contact lenses are not advisable for the first two weeks. The patient must also avoid overexposure to the sun during the recovery period.
